Background

The Endowment Committee was established in May 1998 as a way to extend the Christian ministries of our church. The mission of the Committee is to ensure that contributions to the church will be used for Christ's work according to the wishes of donors. Gifts are welcomed in many forms. Memorial funds are introduced so that members and friends who wish to contribute may do so in memory of a deceased. Endowment contributions contribute to a growing investment; the income from this contributes to the many important functions of the church. The Committee works with donors, relatives, the pastor, and the Session to assure appropriate use of these important contributions.

The Endowment Committee also works with Session to determine the needs of the church that may be best served by this process. Special projects require the approval of the Session. In other words, the committee works for the congregation and through the Session to accommodate the wishes of the church membership. This process is in addition to the annual pledge, and provides an opportunity to bequeath donations through wills for future generations of the church.

The gift and memorial funds administered by the Endowment Committee are separate from the church operating budget. For information on "Ways to Give" see this web site of the Presbyterian Foundation.

"Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fullness of joy, in thy right are pleasures for evermore." Psalm 16

BEING REORGANIZED

Gifts and Memorials

Gifts

... are appropriate at any time and for most purposes. HPC receives donations for many special items, especially for improvements in items used in worship and in enhancing the fellowship experience in the many functions of the church and its ministry.

Memorials

... are most appropriately provided in memory of a loved one. Occasions may vary and arise at any time. Frequently close relatives of the deceased may wish to express their desires for the use of such memorials. This is a way to provide a lasting memory for those close to our hearts.

Further Your Christian Heritage

You may wish to make a Memorial Gift in memory of a loved one,

or a gift to further the Mission or Evangelism programs of Heritage Church,

or a gift to support Music programs, Christian Education programs and projects, Youth programs, projects, and work camps,

or a gift to the Scholarship Fund to recognize outstanding youth of Heritage Church,

or a gift to provide for the Capital Improvements to, and maintenance of, the building and grounds.

It is the spirit of love that God sent with the Gift of His Son, that reaches from His heart to the hearts of His children on earth. It is ours to share through every season, through every day of the year.

The Endowment Funds

Outreach/Evangelism

... investment income is used for the enhancement and broadening of HPC's ministry that reaches beyond its doors, e.g., local, national and international outreach and missions.

Scholarship Fund

... investment income is used for the recognition of outstanding youth of HPC and support in their scholastic endeavors.

Program Fund

... investment income is used for the establishment and support of special programs outside the range of the HPC's operating budget. Examples: special education programs, special speakers, summer work camp, Vacation Bible School, etc.

Special Fund

... investments of income may be used for situations not covered by other funds.

Capital Improvement Fund

... for support of major physical additions or renovations to the church. Both principal and interest may be used.

Forms of Donations/Gifts

Individual donations/gifts come in many forms. Certainly, time is one gift that we give freely for the furtherance of God's work. Financial gifts are another form of giving. Financial donations are made regularly to support the HPC operating budget. Resources given to the HPC Endowment Funds are additional and separate. The form of these gifts may include cash, cash vehicles such as CDs and savings bonds, stock/mutual fund shares, treasury or corporate bonds, and/or real estate.

These donations can be made at any time, and members of HPC Endowment Committee should be asked to assist in effecting transfers. Looking at the longer term, one should consider establishing donations/gifts via one's will to ensure long term goals are in place.

Provide for Future Generations

Yea, I have a goodly Heritage ...

"Thou dost show me the path of life; in thy presence there is fulness of joy, in thy right are pleasures for evermore."  -Psalm 16
