ADULT EDUCATION AND ACTIVITIES

Adult Bible study

The Bible study class has been a longstanding and popular cornerstone of the Heritage Sunday School. Its hallmark is variety, as different teachers seek to dig into the biblical text to bring out its meaning and significance both historically and today. The curriculum for the fall quarter covered Old Testament texts with an examination of scripture beginning with Genesis. The class has continued this spring exploring the New Testament. For the summer quarter, they are studying The Prophets, Lamentations and Second Kings.

The Adult Bible Study Class meets in the Library

Faith and Life

What has the Christian Faith to do with the world in which we live?

That question is the mainspring that drives the "Faith and Life" class. This class examines current social and political issues in the light of a bible-based faith. From time to time, outside speakers are invited to share their expertise in particular areas.

"Faith and Life" meets in Room 1

Special Speaker Series

The fall semester included a 6 week study with Dr. Bruce Douglass from the Reformed Institute. Speakers are scheduled throughout the year.

CHILDREN EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES

SUNDAY SCHOOL — Sunday mornings — 9:30 am - 10:30

Kindergarten - 5th & 6th graders

Sunday School lessons include a story with scripture verses. Each week activities such as games, crafts, songs and prayer reinforce the lesson and help children find meaningful ways to put their faith into practice.

Preschool

Preschool children meet in the nursery for the Sunday School hour. During worship a lesson is presented to them using story, song and finger plays.

Childcare

Care is available for infants through 4 years in the nursery Sunday mornings 9:30 through and during worship.

CHILDREN IN WORSHIP

Children stay in worship for the opening hymn, prayers and children's time. Leaving worship, they go to Children in Worship. Each week children hear a bibles story that uses manipulative such as figures, a desert box and ark. Following the lesson, children reflect together about the meaning of the story and then do work using art materials to further reflect what they've heard.

YOUTH ACOLYTES

Children in 3rd and 4th grade serve as acolytes for the Sunday morning worship service. Training takes place throughout the year.

YOUTH HANDCHIME CHOIR
