Mission in Tijuana, Mexico

In 1998, Heritage added Bill Soldwisch of the Presbyterian Border Ministry to our directed mission list. Bill and his wife Susan moved to Tijuana, Mexico, in 1984 as pioneers in a new Presbyterian ministry along the U.S. - Mexican border. Their first assignment: start a church in one of the city's middle class neighborhoods. He took the approach of forming a team with a Mexican Presbyterian couple. From a modest beginning has grown the Dios Habla Hoy (God Speaks Today) Presbyterian Church and a second satellite congregation that supports worship, health care, English classes, parenting classes and economic development. Bill spends much of his time coordinating the efforts of volunteer groups from the U.S. that work to support the programs of the local church. (Contact: Dave Lyons)
